For Beginners: Basic Skincares that You Truly Need; ONLY 3 Products!

Skincare is a necessity for healthy skin. You read it, not a complimentary, it’s a must. That being said, the ‘skin’ that I refer to here is the face skin, as the face is the most significant part of the whole body. Not only keeping your skin fit, applying skincare can boost your self-confidence. A clean and neat look can be obtained by using the right skincare daily.

Then again, I understand that start applying skincare for the first time can be overwhelming for some people. What is toner? Serum? Moisturizer? They have a 9-step skincare routine? The variety of skincare products out there is outrageous. But, do not worry, folks, you don’t need ALL OF THEM! In fact, you only need 3 basic skincare products, which I will demonstrate further here.

STEP 1: CLEANSING

A clean face is a key to healthy skin. I assume that most people already have their favorite face wash product. If you don’t have any complaints about it, you can continue using it as usual. DO NOT USE BODY WASH ON YOUR FACE! They contain different ingredients, and body wash can be too harsh for your face skin.

If you haven’t found your keen face wash, don’t worry. You can pick your face wash based on your need and skin type; dry, oily, or sensitive. For a starter, you can choose one with mild ingredients so it would be gentle on your skin.

A good face wash won’t make your face feel dry and rough after you wash it off. Personally, I use a face wash that doesn’t contain perfume and is light on the skin.

COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

You might need more cleansing products if you wear makeup daily. If you don’t, a good face wash is enough to wipe out all the dirt and oil from your face.

STEP 2: MOISTURIZING

After cleaning your face, you need to put moisturizer on. In addition to keeping your skin hydrated and supple, moisturizer can nourish your skin. There are a lot of variants of moisturizer out there, so you can pick one based on your skin type.

If you have oily skin, it’s better to use one that is light-textured; such as liquid or gel-based. If you have dry skin, it’s fine to pick a thicker one. Other than that, there are types of moisturizers that have additional functions other than hydrating, such as brightening, exterminating acne, etc.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Ultimate Moisturizing Milk

However, for a starter, I recommend you get a moisturizer with simple ingredients that match your own skin type.

STEP 3: PROTECTING

Use SUNSCREEN! I can’t stress this enough. There are plenty of papers, articles, and research that backed up this statement. Please. Use. Sunscreen.

Then again, you can pick one based on your skin type and budget. There are lots of affordable brands there. Use enough product to cover your whole face and neck. Don’t be stingy!

Madame Gie Sunscreen SPF30 PA+++

For daily use, SPF30 is generally enough to protect your skin. However, if you spend most of your time outdoors, you can use a higher SPF product, such as SPF45 or SPF50. If you argue that your makeup product already contains sunscreen, so no need to wear one, please wear your sunscreen separately. It’s not enough.

That’s it! 3 basic skincare products that you truly need: face wash, moisturizer, and sunscreen! If you’re still a beginner at this, no need to splurge money on those complicated skincare routines.

I hope it’s helpful for you who are still confused about what products to get. Ciao!
