Sing Kei Yat: Delicious and Affordable Dimsum Restaurant in West Surabaya

For those of you who live in Surabaya, especially West Surabaya, you must be familiar with G-Walk in the Citraland area. From the many types of food and restaurants served, I will introduce a Chinese restaurant that focuses on dimsum, Sing Kei Yat.

Location

Located at G-Walk with the full address Gwalk CG2 No. 1-2, Jl. Citraland Surabaya, Surabaya City, East Java 60217.

Located in front of Cincau Station and Pentol Darurat.

Price

The price for authentic Chinese dimsum is quite affordable, IDR20-25k. There are two types of dimsum here, steamed and fried variations. From the taste profile, dimsums are divided into two, salty and sweet.

They include the pig logo on some of the menus. Buyers who are sensitive to these ingredients can be more careful.

Review

I will review some of the menus I tried at Sing Kei Yat. The review will be divided into two based on the taste profile: salty and sweet.

Salty Dimsum

1. Siomay Udang Kukus (Steamed Prawn Siomay)

Price: IDR25k

The skin of the dumplings is quite thin. The meat is very finely ground so it is easy to digest. The taste of the shrimp is pretty subtle with a soft texture. 7/10.

2. Hakao Udang Kukus (Steamed Prawn Hakao)

Price: IDR25k

The hakao’s skin is thin. It tastes a bit like prawn siomay. However, the shrimp meat is more flavorful because it is cut into small chunks, not ground. The experience is better because I can feel the chunks of shrimp in every bite. 8.5/10.

3. Ceker Ayam (Chicken Feet)

Price: IDR20k

Personally, I don't really like chicken feet because it's bothersome to eat. But, I will keep reviewing. The taste is more likely to be sweet and savory, and not spicy at all. Don't be intimidated by the color. The spices are delicious and seep into the chicken feet. 7.5/10.

4. Lumpia Kulit Tahu (Tofu Skin Spring Roll)

Price: IDR25k

The skin is crispy and crunchy. A light and fun snack. The spring roll filling is also delicious. 8.5/10.

5. Udang Bola Mayonais (Mayonnaise Prawn Balls)

Price: IDR25k

My favorite menu at this restaurant. The outside is crispy and the inside is soft, and the prawn meat is very flavorful. Mayonnaise is provided for dipping. The prawn balls are huge. You must try if you stop by this restaurant. 9.5/10.

Sweet Dimsum

1. Mantao Goreng (Fried Mantao)

Price: IDR25k

Mantao original taste, it’s crispy outside and soft inside. Because it's fried, it's a bit greasy on the outside. It’s light-tasted and is eaten with sweetened condensed milk. 8/10.

2. Bakpao Telur Asin (Salted Egg Bakpao)

Price: IDR25k

Another favorite. The buns are soft with a generous amount of salted egg custard filling. It's quite tangy but very tasty. Be careful eating it, because the filling can splatter (this is not a personal experience). 9/10.

The experience of eating here is quite pleasant with good dimsums. The price is pocket-friendly for good quality food. Personally, eating two types of dimsums makes me full already, hehe.

If you are at G-Walk looking for food, you can stop by to try the authentic dimsum at Sing Kei Yat!
